When Kateryna Volkovska came to America she spoke little English. At 17, she had already been attending the Ukrainian Academy of Law, so no public high school would take her. ESL classes at Germanna have made her fluent in English, and earned her associate degree taking criminal justice classes at GCC. Her mother had worried about corruption in the criminal justice system in the Ukraine, but feels better about Kateryna going into the field in America. She has now graduated from George Mason University. She’d like to put her language skills to use working in the U.S. Intelligence Community.
